There Are No Barriers—Only Solutions

Neal Petersen

Neal Petersen, Charleston, South Carolina
This powerful message will reflect on the importance of realizing goals, choosing conquest over adversity, and knowing that with every choice, there are consequences.

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Neal Petersen grew up in the grip of apartheid, classified as "coloured" and subject to arrest if he didn't follow the system's segregationist rules. Racism wasn't his only challenge; he also was born with a defective hip. But Neal would turn these barriers into doorways. Today, he is an award-winning author and a solo, "Around Alone" racing yachtsman. Few people have realized their dreams, but even fewer have raced solo around the world (27,000 miles and nine months at sea)—in a home-built boat! A gifted speaker and storyteller, he has demonstrated what can happen when one truly lives by goals, planning, and preparation, believing there are no obstacles so great that they cannot be overcome.

Thursday, October 28, Noon – 1:45 p.m.

Think Like a Spy

John Sileo

John Sileo, President, The Sileo Group, Denver, Colorado
Identity theft is America's fastest-growing crime and the number one concern among all Americans. By examining the role of fear, incorporating the power of instinct, and redefining our paradigm of trust, Mr. Sileo will empower you to regain control of your sensitive data—before it's too late.

John Sileo's identity was stolen out of his corporation and used to commit a series of crimes, including $300,000 worth of digital embezzlement. While the data thief (an "internal spy") operated behind the safety of John's identity, John and his business were held legally and financially responsible for the felonies committed. Ultimately, the data breach destroyed John's corporation and consumed two years of his life as he fought to stay out of jail. Emerging from this crisis, John became America's leading professional speaker on identity theft prevention and corporate data privacy. His experiences as victim and victor led him to write the critically acclaimed, award-winning book, Stolen Lives.

Second Chance Living

Mercedes Ramirez Johnson

Mercedes Ramirez Johnson, Dallas "What will you do with your second chance today?" is the question Mercedes will pose in this transformational program. Her gripping story will move you to put your life in perspective and carefully consider how the choices you make profoundly affect your future. You will walk away with increased confidence, knowing that no matter what challenges you may face, you have the fortitude and ability to take ownership of your life and find the fulfillment you desire.

In 1995, Mercedes Ramirez Johnson narrowly survived a commercial airplane crash that killed 160 people, including her parents. As one of only four survivors of this tragedy, she vowed that she would make her second chance at life count…and that she has, not only for herself, but also for the tens of thousands of people who have heard her story and her message.

Tim O'SheaKris O'Shea

The O'Shea Report, Tim and Kris O'Shea, Westminster, Colorado
The world is changing…fast. Fast enough that by next week, the iPod Nano will be thought of as Amish furniture. This presentation will take you on a hilarious journey through the ups and downs of dealing with change. Presenting in their hilarious news-magazine format, The O'Sheas are a one-of-a-kind team. Through motivational humor, they will help you snuggle up to change, stomp on suspicion, and open your mind to progress.

Tim and Kris O'Shea are both familiar with the fast pace of the working world. While working office jobs during the day, they built their careers at night as comedy writers and performers. They have each trained with The Second City theater company and have shared the stage with the likes of Robert Klein, Louie Anderson, Norm MacDonald, and cast members from Whose Line Is It Anyway?

For a complete conference program, refer to the July edition of the TML magazine, Texas Town & City, or visit the TML Web site at TML Annual Conference and Exhibition.
