Independence, the fourth-largest city in Missouri, seeks an innovative and skilled administrator to lead its Police Department. Position reports to City Manager. Department has 300 employees; 202 commissioned officers. Annual budget is $25M (includes GF & 1/8 cent capital sales tax for public safety.)
Ideal candidate should possess exceptional leadership, administrative and “people” skills with a track record of success in community and employee relations. Candidates must have 5 years experience in local law enforcement as a chief or senior officer with command level experience.
BA required; MA/advanced law enforcement training desired. Certification/ability to become certified as police officer in MO required.
