THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY ANNOUNCES NEW EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT GRANT
The Governor’s Division of Emergency Management (GDEM) recently notified cities of new Department of Homeland Security grants. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has just announced a new grant to improve emergency management and preparedness capabilities by supporting emergency operations centers (EOC). The EOC grant program allows for up to $1,000,000 for a construction project and up to $250,000 for renovation projects for EOCs. The grant has a 75-percent federal and 25-percent local cost share, cash or in-kind, match requirement.
The grant guidance and application process may be obtained on the Internet using the following link: http://www.fema.gov/government/grant/index.shtm. The application for this grant is not as simple as other grant applications, and the process outlined in the EOC Grant Guidance must be followed exactly. The application for the grant must be sent electronically to the GDEM no later than July 21, 2008.
