OFFICE OF ATTORNEY GENERAL CLOSER TO LAUNCHING ITS NEW PUBLIC INFORMATION ACT ELECTRONIC FILING SYSTEM

With the recent adoption of rules concerning the electronic submission of open records requests (1 Tex. Admin. Code §§ 63.21-.24), the office of attorney general (OAG) moves one step closer to launching its new e-filing system.

A city that seeks a decision from the attorney general about whether public information is excepted from public disclosure will eventually be able to submit the request and related information electronically. The cost for an electronically submitted request for an attorney general decision will be $25, plus a $5 administrative fee. Alternatives to the e-filing system will continue to be available. (Cities will retain the option to submit requests by mail or in person.)

More information about the new e-filing system is available at https://www.oag.state.tx.us/open/efiling.shtml.
