Urgent Updates
Once elections are over, is there any new state guidance about
post-election procedures in light of Coronavirus (such as swearing-in
procedures)?
Yes, on Friday October 30th, the Secretary of State’s office issued new
election guidance, 2020-33, which includes helpful analysis of
swearing-in and other pandemic related issues (see Section IV of the
guidance).
Do we have to meet in person to swear in newly-elected city
officials?
The guidance mentioned in the previous answer suggests that
swearing in by a teleconferenced open meeting is possible provided certain
procedures (outlined in the guidance) are followed.
