Senate Bill 329, passed during the 2001 Regular Legislative Session, created a television equipment recycling program at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) that requires television manufacturers to pay for the collection, transportation, and recycling of television equipment from consumers.

The bill requires TCEQ to educate consumers regarding television equipment reuse and recycling, and it also requires that written notice be sent to each city and county in Texas on the legal disposal and recycling of television equipment.
