Water Loss Reporting Proposed Rules

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) recently proposed rules implementing H.B. 1461.  The bill, passed in 2013, requires all retail public utilities (including municipally owned utilities) to notify their customers of water loss reported in their water loss audits filed with the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB).  The notice must be provided through either the utility’s consumer confidence report or in the customer’s next bill after the water loss audit is filed.

TCEQ will hold a public hearing on the proposed rules in Austin on June 26, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in Building E, Room 201S, at the TCEQ central office located at 12100 Park 35 Circle.
